Plan of Study


The B.A. in Maritime Studies requires a foundation of courses including 6 credits of introductory courses at the 100 level as prereqisites to the upper division courses, 15 credits of interdisciplinary courses at the 200 level, 12 credits at the 200 level in a specific disciplinary concentration, and 12 credits at the 200 level in related courses.

The two 100 level introductory courses are MAST 101-Introduction to Maritime Studies and MARN 135-The Sea Around Us. For course descriptions, follow the Curriculum link on the navigation bar on the left side of this page.

The five 200 level interdisciplinary courses are ECON 233-Economics of the Ocean, ENGL 237-Maritime Literature, HIST 245-Atlantic Voyages, POLS 259-Maritime Law, and MAST 2XX-Maritime Studies Senior Seminar.
